Day two of the three day Warrumbungles adventure, the Wooman and Newcastle Outdoor Adventure Group took to the challenge of conquering Mount Exmouth, the highest peak standing at 1206m. Starting at Burbie Canyon Carpark, the 17.3km return track started out along a dried creek bed before slowly ascending to Danu Gap. From here, the Wooman highly recommends the side trip to the Cathedral and Arch; an impressive gumtree sits atop the arch, giving the site a heavenly like feel. The final approach to the summit is steep, but the views to the South are spectacular and the changing terrain gives bushwalkers diversity as they sweat up the mountain. Highly recommend this hike!
